The story is set in 1840 First Opium War broke out. A fight against the British broke out in the Sanyuanli village in Guangzhou. The story reflects the national spirit of the people in Guangdong during the chaos of the time. It is also a rich tapestry displaying with family relationships, friendship, love, and the dilemma between the family and the state in the southern part of Guangdong.
Awakening Lion shows strong characteristics and indigenous features of South China and Old Canton. By integrating innovative elements and multimedia technology, the staging exudes both modern appeal and visual impact. The blending of Chinese dance and traditional lion dance is a bold, innovative concept in terms of choreography.
